An RnD project into a cloth based car reveals the cloth is slowly activated through a python based script setup.
The project is setup in Cinema 4D, rendered in Octane and the composting was done in After Effects.
For the cloth textures, I chose to use a subsurface scattering based texture to get the most out of the underlying lights and I have to say Octane plays very well with the SSS materials, but it seems to fall flat on his face working with transparent materials and HDRI setups.
In the end, I spend the most time on getting the animation of the VFX just right, creating the materials, setting up the lights and tweaking the render settings to get fast and noise free render.
